PRESS RELEASE
COVID-19 NON-URGENT TRANSPORTATION SUPPORT PLAN
Toronto, Ontario, March 6, 2020 – On 31, December 2019, The World Health Organization was informed of cases of pneumonia of unknown etiology (unknown cause) detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province in China. Later identified as the causative virus COVID-19.
Ontario experienced its first presumptive confirmed case of COVID-19, January 25, 2020.
Responding to this impending epidemic, Gomedics Health continues to provide non-urgent transportation to older adults, seniors, frail, vulnerable and complex patients. We have assembled a trained COVD-19 Non-Urgent Transport Team; including driving attendants, personal support workers, nurses, and community health workers to provide non-urgent transportation services across the Greater Toronto and surrounding Areas.
With guidance from Ministry of Health, public health agencies and our regional care partners, we help service providers in primary, acute, and long-term care; home and community, hospitals, and independent health facilities transport patients to and from COVID-19 designated screening and assessment locations.
We also help service providers to build capacity with patient navigation, home and community, telephone and virtual triage supports.
